Job Title: Strategic Finance Business Partner
Location: Sutton, London
Contract: 6-month contract, hybrid working, 3 days a week
Salary: £600/day
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Strategic Finance Business Partner to join a local authority team in Sutton. In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic financial business partnering support to both the corporate core and front-line service areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a critical friend to the Council, delivering insightful analysis that informs strategic decision-making and enhances financial management practices.
- Apply professional judgement to interpret and implement policies and procedures to meet specific local or service needs.
- Provide day-to-day management and professional supervision to staff, ensuring the effective delivery of operational plans and activities.
- Ensure that the Council's operations adhere to defined regulatory, statutory, and professional standards.
- Lead small projects and implement changes and improvements within agreed cost, time, and quality standards.
- Manage service-level budgets and resources to support the delivery of intended outcomes and demonstrate value for money.
- Provide inspirational leadership to the finance team and actively participate in Council leadership networks.
- Mentor and coach staff to support their professional development and contribute to the growth of talent within the Shared Finance Service.
Requirements:
- Completed a relevant professional qualification (e.g., CIPFA, CIMA, MBA) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Experience working within a business partnering model and/or familiarity with its requirements.
- Proven experience working alongside senior managers in a Senior Finance role.
- Track record of working in a customer-focused finance team within a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic finance advice and challenge to budget holders, managers, and finance colleagues.
- Experience leading or providing financial support to change programs, business improvement initiatives, or corporate strategy development.
- Ability to develop in-depth technical understanding of complex financial issues to support financial planning.
