Corporate Programme Manager - Construction Project manager - Facilities management

Are you a skilled and motivated professional with a background in construction, facilities management, and health and safety? Join our Projects Team within the Property, Facilities Management, and Health & Safety Service at Wakefield Council. Located at Wakefield One, our team of programme managers is dedicated to providing technical support across these crucial areas, ensuring projects are scoped and delivered effectively, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. With a property portfolio that includes schools, heritage sites, and public buildings across the five towns of Wakefield, we play a vital role in shaping our community's infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage current and future projects and minor works, ensuring performance measures are met
  • Support procurement activities to enhance the corporate estate and wider services
  • Provide professional guidance on project management activities
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to policy development and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements for the Post:

Essential:

  • PRINCE2 Project Management or equivalent certification
  • Degree-level education in a relevant field
  • Good understanding of programme and project management techniques
  • Knowledge of procurement processes in the public sector

Desirable:

  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS)
  • Experience in managing strategic capital building programmes
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations in construction projects
  • Familiarity with school capital programme delivery
