Hourly Rate: £38/hr

Are you an expert practitioner in Building Control services with extensive experience? Are you passionate about providing learning opportunities for junior surveyors and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide learning opportunities for junior surveyors, assisting with judgement on points of dispute with long-term consequences.
  • Suggest changes in technical policy to the Head of Building Control on issues affecting applicants.
  • Check plans and conduct site inspections for all types of applications, including complex ones, with appropriate supervision provided for projects outside your competence level.
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations for various types of building work, staying updated on trends, legislation, and professional/technical developments.
  • Collaborate with the manager and colleagues to define outcomes, set targets, and monitor performance, fostering a culture of continual improvement.
  • Plan, manage, and deliver workload requirements in line with service performance standards.
  • Assist in developing market share and generating additional income by providing solutions.
  • Protect people's safety, health, and welfare in and around the built environment.
  • Take emergency action concerning dangerous structures, including appointing external contractors outside normal hours if necessary.
  • Maintain a licence with the Building Safety Regulator in line with Registered Building Inspector requirements.

Requirements:

  • Expert practitioner with extensive experience in Building Control services.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and ability to interpret complex technical information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.
  • Hold and maintain a licence with the Building Safety Regulator.
