Trainee Building Surveyor
Ipswich
£18,000-£23,000 + £2,000 car allowance

Job Role
To advise clients on design and construction of new buildings, and advising on the maintenance and repair of existing buildings

Team worker:

Participate as a member of the team supporting colleagues and working collaboratively to develop the business
Work flexibly to support delivery across the service
Take ownership for own personal development

Customer service:

Advise clients on schemes and projects to determine requirements
Advise clients on energy efficiency, environmental impact and sustainable construction
Advise on the management and supervision of maintenance of buildings
Deal with planning applications and advising on property legislation and building regulations
Instruct on construction design and management regulations
Advise on the health and safety aspects of buildings

Business delivery:

Support existing Building Surveyors in the delivery of dilapidations, condition surveys, maintenance programmes and minor works projects
Communicate effectively and professionally with clients via telephone calls, letters and e-mails
Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters concerning the company and its clients
Keep up to date with any changes or proposed changes in legislation, Codes of Practice or Directives pertinent to your work
Undertake CAD designs under instruction

BIM roles and responsibilities:

Maintain and receive information into the information model
Configure information for project outputs
Populate the information exchange format for the information model
Production of design outputs related to a discipline-specific, package-based or time-based task
Propose resolutions to co-ordination clashes

It's essential that you have:

Good problem solving skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Publisher
An ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Strong communication skills and teamwork ability
