Tenancy Management Officer

Akton has an opening for a Tenancy Management Officer

Job Purpose:
? To manage a caseload of tenancy management issues, including: tenancy conditions
enforcement, legislative (landlord and tenant as well as environmental standards)
enforcement, providing or facilitating tenancy sustainment ensuring that the councils
housing asset is made best use of for the benefit of the community and those in
housing need
? To contribute to the effective management of our estates, making them a safe,
community focussed, well managed and pleasant place to live
? To work closely with the Income Team on joint issues

Key Duties:
? Deal with tenancy enforcement issues in cases of anti social behaviour and other
breaches of tenancy conditions, assessing complaints raised against the viability of
successful action and referring those unenforceable for alternative actions by tenants
themselves, mediation, or other agencies. Where enforceable advising all parties of
the legislation and requirements, collecting relevant evidence and assessing cases
for enforcement action
? To deal with requests for mutual exchanges, transfers and tenancy changes via
succession and assignment and creating joint tenancies
? Carry out annual inspections and tenancy audits on tenanted and shared ownership
properties, as required
? To project manage estate based activities that support the effective management of
tenancies, estates and communities working with the Engagement Projects and
Support Officer
? Working with the void officer, ensure that inventories and photographic evidence is
recorded on all empty homes containing property
? Undertake regular estate walkabouts in partnership with relevant council staff, other
agencies, members and tenants and undertake communal inspections including the
taking of meter readings as required
? Ensure that ICT is used efficiently to improve the services being delivered on the
estate, maintaining accurate information for tenant and audit purposes
