Akton Recruitment is looking for a Specialist Support Worker to join the local authority in Sutton. This is an initial contract for 3 - 6 months (for the right candidate likely to extend).
Duties Include:
- Working within established frameworks and procedures but with the freedom to apply professional judgement to solve problems.
- Experience of direct work with young people 10 - 18yrs is essential.
- Experience of working within a multi-agency team.
- Ensure that all work with children/young people and their families is carried out in accordance with statutory regulations and guidance, delivering a range of interventions to secure defined positive outcomes for young people.
- Responsible for assessment, intervention planning and tracking of outcomes for cases worked with.
- Have a solution focused attitude to breaking down entrenched barriers for young people and their families and work as part of the wider team to deliver a service that is flexible to supporting young people with a range of the needs.
- Have an adaptive engagement style to reflect the age or learning style of the young person worked with.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about: the physical, social and emotional needs of children and young people aged 10-18.
- Knowledge and understanding of implementing safeguarding procedures working in a pressured environment.
- Willingness to work across the week, including evenings and weekends on a rota basis, to meet support needs of vulnerable young people prone to crisis.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own caseload and workload and maintain high standards under pressure.
- Undertake such additional duties as are reasonable within the responsibilities of the post and which the line manager may require, including working from different locations and within flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
This is a full-time, contract-based role, working 36 hours per week on a shift basis at a rate of £17-£18 per hour depending on experience.
