Senior Project Manager-Met Office

The Met Office is running a critical project to deliver a new payroll service. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead this business-critical project.

The purpose of this role is to project manage the payroll supplier and service retender to implement the new payroll service and retire the existing service.

Job Responsibilities

* Define and manage scope the project, ensuring that outputs/deliverables and the plans for their delivery are clear and agreed with stakeholders.
* Prepare and maintain resource plans and budgets that align to the outputs/deliverables
* Build relationships with the project team, senior programme stakeholders and communicate with all stakeholders to ensure that decisions are focused on achievement of stated outcomes and benefits

* Manage and motivate the project team to ensure tasks are completed against the agreed project plan.
* Identify, evaluate and prioritise risks, issues and dependencies to ensure appropriate actions are in place to minimise their potential impact on the project.
* Ensure Met Office project and technical (such as Payroll/HR, IT Security, testing, specifications) documentation are developed and maintained in accordance with Met Office standards, and processes are in place for reporting, governance, and assurance as part of the project plan.

Essential Criteria

1 Current PRINCE2 or APM Practitioner qualification.
2 Experience in delivery of business-critical payroll supplier implementations.
3 Experience in effective management of a multi-disciplinary project a team and third-party supplier (in particular a payroll supplier).
4 Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills when working across a range of roles/disciplines and vertically from Associate Director to project level.

5 Excellent stakeholder management and communications skills including the ability to facilitate and manage workshops that span multiple disciplines whether working remotely or in hybrid working environment.
6 Demonstrable the ability to analyse complex/technical information and present it in a straightforward and understandable way.
7 Capable of working with a high degree of autonomy, taking the initiative and pathfinding, enabling decisions as part of managing: risks/opportunities, issues, dependencies, and benefits.

Desirable Criteria

* Ability to manage projects using either agile, incremental, or waterfall approaches.
* Knowledge and experience of managing supplier contracts.
* Knowledge and experience of public sector procurement approaches.
