Senior Project Manager- Met Office

The Met Office is running a programme to enable improved access to data. As part of this we are looking for experienced Project Managers to lead customer facing initiatives, delivering technology and business architecture to meet key strategic commitments. This purpose of this role is to project manage delivery of a customer facing data services project and handover to BAU.

Job Responsibilities

* Scope the project, identify the outputs/deliverables and plan the activities required to deliver the capabilities identified in the project mandate.
* Prepare resource plans and budgets that align.
* Build relationships and communicate with all stakeholders to ensure that decisions are focused on achievement of stated outcomes and benefits.

* Identify, evaluate and prioritise risks, issues and dependencies to ensure appropriate actions are in place to minimise their potential impact on the project.

* Manage resource plans and budgets that align and motivate the project team (internal and external resources) to ensure tasks are completed against the project plan.

* Monitor, manage and report on project schedules, resourcing, finances and benefits.

Essential Criteria

* Experience in managing high risk, complex projects with a specific focus on product & service delivery through the full life of a project.
* Significant experience in effectively managing project teams within a programme.
* Ability to manage projects using agile and GDS.
* Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills. Excellent stakeholder management and communications skills including the ability to facilitate and manage workshops.

* Ability to work with stakeholders to manage a backlog of requirements, prioritise them and define them into Sprints.

* Demonstrable ability to analyse complex information and present it in a straightforward and understandable way.

* Experience of both IT and business change.
* Experience of delivering customer facing web solutions.
* Knowledge of User and Customer experience management (UX&CX).

Desirable Criteria

* PRINCE 2, MSP, GDS or similar.
* Knowledge of JIRA or similar.
* Knowledge of data services.
* Commercial acumen and experience of service agreements.
