Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Role
To specify and design mechanical building services and to manage compliance and quality of installations as a Senior member of the team.

Team worker:

Participate as a Senior member of the team supporting colleagues and working collaboratively to develop the business
Work flexibly to support delivery across the service
Take ownership for own personal development

Business delivery:

Production of appropriate reports, drawing and specifications of compliant mechanical building services design including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and water services
Producing industry standard tender packages, undertaking analysis of tenders, monitoring and management of cost, quality and timescales
Undertake site surveys, site visits and associated inspections according to standard project/industry procedures or as the project requires
Preparation of design calculations on industry standard software
Commence key early engagement with other professions ensuring fundamental building services principles drive building design
Support coordination between the M&E discipline and the other disciplines in the business
Manage coordination of third party organisations and specialists design

Customer service:

Provide an efficient and business-like point of contact. This includes responding to internal and external enquiries and (via face to face, telephone, email)
Liaise with clients and developing the relevant aspects of client briefs
Work collaboratively with other professionals within the Practice and also with Contractors/Suppliers
Create a positive and professional first impression of the company
Deal with all contacts professionally

BIM roles and responsibilities:

Enable integration and coordination of information within the information model
Maintain and receive information into the information model
Configure information for project outputs
Populate the information exchange format for the information model
Assure delivery of information exchanges
Confirm supplier's ability to deliver information requirements
Co-ordinated delivery of all design information
Manage information development and information approvals
Confirm Design Deliverables
Overall Lead for configuration management
Production of design outputs related to a discipline-specific, package-based or time-based task
Direct the production of task information in compliance with standards and methods
Direct the production of task information using agreed systems
Manage spatial coordination on behalf of the task team
Accept reject information exchanges within the common data environment
Propose resolutions to coordination clashes

It's essential you have:

You will hold at least five years' experience working in consultancy practice or for a large contractor in a design capacity
Up to date knowledge of relevant Building Regulations and standards for electrical installations
HNC/HND in a relevant discipline
Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Good standard of literacy and numeracy
Able to work effectively under pressure
