We're looking for a suitable SEN manager to provide, manage and develop an effective and efficient SEN Service in respect of the statutory procedures for the assessment, planning, and annual review of pupils.

Main responsibilities:
1. To expand the SEN Services team in order to guarantee the management and coordination of related casework for kids and students who require statutory assessment and review as part of a systematic and integrated approach to satisfying their special educational needs.

2. To oversee the creation, maintenance, and evaluation of suitable mechanisms to ensure that the Authority fulfils its legal requirements in relation to the assessment for and issuance of Education, Health, and Care Plans (ECHP), as well as the yearly review of pupils and students with SEN.

3. To manage the development, maintenance and review arrangements for supporting and advising pupils.

4. To develop, maintain, and monitor information systems that track the development and needs of students and pupils as a result of annual reviews, as well as to ensure that changes to ECHPs are implemented and that arrangements are made to implement any changes in provision within statutory timeframes.

5. To prepare written reports for the Council Members, committees and other appropriate forums and to present information to a variety of audiences.

6. To effectively manage competing deadlines, making accurate judgements based on secure evidence, setting priorities and identifying support accordingly thereby ensuring that the targets of the service are met.


Qualifications:
* Educated to degree level.
* Evidence of continuing relevant professional development.
* Relevant post graduate qualification, or extensive experience of working in SEN for a Local Authority

Skills, Experience and competencies:
* Successful senior management experience of working in a Local Authority SEN team to support children with Special Educational Needs or other allied/relevant service area.
* Ability to articulate and specify in writing, multi-agency requirements to meet the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
* Ability to think strategically and analyse financial and other complex issues and developing service plans.
* Competent user of IT systems to meet service objectives.
