Kingston Upon Thames Council
Akton recruitment has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Researcher (Minute Taking) to join the team at the Kingston Council.

Job Role: Digital Researcher
Our mantra here in Digital is people first, technology second. When building good services, we start with user needs. We are currently looking for User Researchers to join one of our agile, multidisciplinary teams and help us to surface the needs of our varied users. The User Researcher will plan, design and carry out research activities with users to help teams gain a deep understanding of the people that currently (or may potentially) use our products and services. At this level you will be expected to work independently.

Key Activities- User Research
? With a working knowledge of user research, you will be responsible for building empathy for service users across the team. You will work in the open, across multiple services, building understanding of the user perspective and taking your team, and stakeholders on the research journey. You will ensure the user research meets Government Digital Service standards.
? You will plan and deliver user research activities. You will identify research questions with your team. You will manage the recruitment of both current and potential users of the service. You will develop appropriate research artefacts (such as discussion guides, cultural probes, surveys, etc). Carrying out inclusive user research (preferably involving non-research colleagues in the process), you will help your colleagues understand the diverse needs of your service users, and the context in which they engage with the service. You will help the team to test their designs with users, providing constructive feedback to help iterate better solutions.
? Build trust with community groups across the borough, helping the council to open up and listen more empathetically to the needs of our most vulnerable residents. Organise innovative ways to listen to residents, visitors and businesses, helping them to co-create services with us and having an honest dialogue throughout.
? You will articulate insight to communicate your findings to the team and wider stakeholder community. You will build personas (which will include 'jobs to be done') to surface user needs and build empathy for your users. You will create journey maps to show the end-to-end experience, highlighting the pain points and opportunities for improvement.
? You will socialise your findings and recommendations with the team and wider stakeholders. This will include presenting your artefacts at the team's regular Show and Tell events, and facilitating interactive user research workshops with your team
