Akton Recruitment are currently working exclusively with the Local Authorities to fill a 5 month contract for a Residential Care Worker. We are looking for someone who can start immediately and able to cover 4-6 shifts per week. Shifts vary but do include weekend work and 10 hour night shifts. Because of this we are looking for someone experienced in working night shifts and understand how tiring this can sometimes be. Must have a current DBS and previous experience as a care worker to be considered.

Responsibilities-
  1. Accountable to all members of the Management Team or senior staff on duty at all times of the working shift.
  2. To enable the service users in the unit to maintain or regain their independence, individuality and dignity.
  3. To offer support in the maintenance of an individual’s physical needs relating to washing, bathing, dressing, continence, feeding and mobility.
  4. To appreciate the emotional needs of older people, particularly recognising the importance of clearly communicating with them when giving care and attention.
  5. To offer recreation and stimulation to service users, if appropriate.
  6. To have concern for the total care environment including some domestic aspects which arise during the course of the day/night.
  7. To be aware of fire and other safety precautions in the unit and to respond in the event of a fire or other emergency.
  8. To communicate the needs of service users to management and maintain good relations between service users, staff and visitors to the unit.
  9. To be involved in all aspects of review and decision making in relation to the people in their care.
  10. To attend service user reviews and staff meetings.
  11. To escort service users on outings, and to and from the unit.
  12. To undertake a key worker role for a number of service users by contributing to the preparation and implementation of care plans, if appropriate.
  13. If working nights to undertake timed checks to be made during the night dependant on service users individual needs and choices.
  14. Any other duties considered to fall within the scope of the post.
  15. To utilise appropriate information and communication technology to ensure the provision of prompt and efficient services and information to service users, partner agencies and other stakeholders and maintain accurate and complete records.
  16. To participate fully in supervision, appraisal, development and training as required.
