Property Management Officer

Akton Recruitment currently has an exciting opportunity for a Property Management Officer to to join the accomadation team within the housing team of a local authority in London

Main Purpose of the Job
To be responsible for managing the Council’s portfolio of temporary accommodation working closely with Environmental Health Officers, liaising with the Accommodation Providers, other local authorities, central Government bodies and other departments within the Council. To be responsible for managing the Council’s temporary accommodation Repairs Service in line with Council service standards. Working in a highperformance team responsible to the Accommodation and Income Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
▪ Undertaking property inspections to ensure new and existing properties meet the councils temporary accommodation standards. ▪ Managing the Repairs Service; liaising closely with Accommodation Providers to ensure they maintain good quality temporary accommodation. ▪ Monitoring accommodation standards; promptly responding to, investigating and resolving, wherever possible, complaints regarding poor housing conditions in temporary accommodation. ▪ Assisting in the resolution of property complaints, closely working with Providers and Residents to ensure any remedial works are undertaken within prescribed time frames. Identifying urgent hazards and taking appropriate action. ▪ Issuing formal warning letters with regards to matters of access and repairs. ▪ To notify relevant partners of any concerns regarding households’ welfare and well-being and to record information on relevant IT systems. ▪ To work closely with the Lead Complaints Officer providing complex responses to housing complaints and enquiries: responding within specified time frames and updating IT systems accordingly. ▪ Collating and managing vital statistical information for the Accommodation and Income Manager and Council Members to provide a clear picture of the quality of temporary accommodation.
