Overall Job Scope

To assist with the planning and installation of world class structural and/or geotechnical instrumentation systems on behalf of various clients.

Core Activities, Duties and Key Tasks

* Develop and manages project teams
* Delivering projects on budget and within the agreed scope and timescales
* Ensure successful delivery of quality assurance, environmental and Health and Safety Procedures
* Provide leadership and direction to all team members
* Take a lead role in administering both contract and programme to meet targets and deliverables
* Assist in the general development of the business, and acts on opportunities for growth
* Effectively communicate reporting requirements to the Senior Management Team
* Enforce all policies relating to performance evaluations and career development planning
* Review specifications and instrumentation designs and guide Project Engineers in production of Monitoring Design Plans to deliver working systems
* Review and approve internally produced documentation for works on a variety of third party assets such as Docklands Light Railway, London Underground, Network Rail and other main contractors
* Review and approve internally produced site specific safety documentation including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, Works package plans, Task Briefing Sheets, etc. for review
* Manage the implementation, consistency and maintenance of site specific safety documentation
* Develop relationships with third parties on Projects, to facilitate access requirements
* Attending site as required to help solve technical issues and to undertake routine/reactive safety inspections
* Obtain quotations from sub-contractors and suppliers.
* Manage the selection and engagement of subcontractors, agency staff, equipment, tools and services
* Oversee procurement for all project related services and materials
* Development of programmes and schedules for delivery of services. Feeding in to Operations Programming
* Provide assistance and input into the estimating of work
* Production of commercial literature including forecasts, measurements and applications for payment
* Management of commercial and contractual variations
* Provide a client interface for all project matters
* Represent the company at meetings and within various forums with clients, collaborators and suppliers
* Attendance at and hosting of internal meetings to review project performance and requirements including Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, Technical, Commercial and Resourcing issues as well as upcoming works and likely tender wins
* Review installation reports, drawings and as-built reports prior to delivery to clients
* Contribute to internal technical discussions, sharing new ideas and possible solutions to technical issues
* Take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of yourself and any other persons who may be affected by your acts and to co-operate in order that the employer's duty may be fulfilled
* Contribute to current Health and Safety policy (including Near Miss Reporting, Legislation change etc.

The post holder will be required to perform other reasonable duties at the request of senior staff. This job description is subject to amendment in line with the developing service and following consultation with the post holder.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications
GCSE English, Mathematics and Science (A-C) or equivalent.
A-Levels or equivalent
Driving Licence
Relevant University Degree (i.e. Civil Engineering, Surveying, Earth Science etc.)
DLR Track Awareness Card
Sentinel Card (with PTS and LU ICI)
