Principal Licensing Officer

Akton Recruitment currently has an opening for a Principal Licensing Officer in Rotherham.

The post holder will provide operational leadership and support to the licensing team, ensuring that all statutory obligations and service plan objectives are effectively delivered.

Key Duties/Areas of Responsibility

1. Provide professional advice, support and guidance on operational licensing matters to members of the licensing team, service management, elected members and council partners as appropriate

2. To support the Licensing Manager in developing the service and meeting local and national licensing priorities

3. To provide operational leadership and management to ensure an effective licensing service in accordance with statutory requirements and to integrate the work of these services within the council's corporate framework, policies, values, practices and priorities

4. To promote cross service and generic working and ensure service engagement in partnership activities

5. To provide direction, training, mentoring and professional guidance to appropriate staff within the service

6. To contribute to service planning and effective performance management of the licensing staff and team

7. To ensure that management information, reports, statutory returns etc. are provided in a timely manner

8. Contribute to the development of a customer focused service that is responsive and flexible with regard to customer need

9. To represent the council on licensing matters at internal and external matters, and to assist in the development of policies and procedures relevant to the work of the team and service in general

10. Manage elements of operational budgets within strict cash limits, maximising opportunities for income generation, monitoring expenditure and income for the service area and providing management information as required.
