Principal Lawyer - Property & Regeneration- Tower Hamlets

This is a full time, permanent role based in the Town Hall with the ability to work remotely for most of the week.

Our skilled and Lexcel accredited Legal Team has a crucial role providing the full range and variety of expert services across all areas of the Council's work.

If you're an experienced Property Lawyer and highly motivated legal professional keen to maximise your potential, then we'd love to hear from you. You will be joining a dynamic, supportive, commercially focused Property Team, working in a relaxed but professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

You will be the lead lawyer for Property and Regeneration and deal with some high profile and transformational projects, reporting to the Head of Contracts and Commercial. You will manage a busy team of Lawyers and be responsible for the provision of high quality solution focussed services to internal and external clients.
You will be able to demonstrate significant experience of undertaking complex legal work in the area of Property and Regeneration and a sound understanding of the applicable legal framework. You will be able to advise confidently on governance and other issues relating to large schemes. You will be able to demonstrate experience of managing a team and of dealing with senior officers and Members of the Council.

This post is politically restricted in accordance with Section 2 of the Local Government & Housing Act 1989.

You must be a UK Qualified Solicitor/Barrister or Fellow of CILEX with significant relevant PQE and hold a practising certificate.
