Mechanical Design Engineer - Aerospace

* World leading patented electric propulsion technology for numerous Urban Air Mobility and electric fixed wing flight demonstration programs
* High power, multi MW, electric machines for future single aisle commercial aircraft.
* High power generators for hybrid and more electric aircraft.

We are looking for driven, capable and a highly motivated contract mechanical design engineer to join the business on a temporary 2-3-month period. Working as part of an integrated team incorporating subject matter experts from both our client and our customers research departments.

As a supporting mechanical design engineer, you will have responsibility for design, justification and 2D drawing generation of the mechanical elements of aeronautical propulsion and generation systems under the guidance of the existing mechanical engineers.

The expertise we are looking for is typical of a mechanical engineer with a preference for experience within an aeronautical field:

Key requirements

* Structures
o Finite Element Analysis of structures (Aluminium, Carbon Fibre and steels)
* CAD: Solid Edge - both 3D model generation, assemblies and 2D drawings
* Machine element design
o Gears
o Bearings
o Shafts
o Lubrication networks and associated components
o Connecting elements (Fasteners, interference fits, clutches, circlips, locknuts, keys, splines, keyways, bolts and pins, welded joints, glued and soldered joints)

You will operate as a key member of the team in an aeronautical environment using a range of cross functional disciplines including:

* Requirements management including derivation, allocation, validation, verification and traceability
* Configuration management
* Industrialisation
