M&E Clerk of Works

We are looking for highly motivated Clerk of Works to join our client, a successful and growing surveying and construction consultancy practice in London.
A background in M&E is essential as is knowledge and experience of firestopping.

* Review contract documentation including drawings, specifications and contract conditions.
* Advise upon the practical implications of implementing the designs and draw attention to any areas for improvement.
* Inspect construction works for compliance with contract documentation, contract instructions and good practice.
* Inspect construction works for compliance with statutory regulations e.g. Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act and Control of Asbestos Regulations.
* Keep appropriate records of conditions and progress on site. Ensure that such records are comprehensive and well-structured so as to assist with the administration of the contract.
* Carry out inspections to record any defects which become apparent after the completion of works and pass those records to the appropriate person as identified within the contract.

Ideal candidates will have:
* The ability to prioritise and manage several tasks or projects to deadline
* A customer focussed attitude
* A sound knowledge of building construction
* A professional approach to daily tasks
* Excellent report writing and presentation ability
* Good verbal communication skills, being comfortable in meetings and happy to contribute
* The ability to work under direction but able to use own initiative when required
* Competent use of IT software, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel
* A commercially aware and financially astute attitude
* MICWCI or working towards membership
* Knowledge (and preferably a qualification) in fire stopping
* A full UK driving licence
You will have the potential to grow, as they offer strong training schemes with hopes to get the right individual fully qualified in their field. This will be part of a long-term development plan.
