Interim Group Manager Governance- Slough Council

The post holder will be responsible for the following service areas:

* Democratic Services
* Electoral Services
* Member development
* Emergency planning and Business Continuity
* Corporate Fraud
* Corporate Complaints, Member Casework, Freedom of Information ,MP Enquiries as well as overseeing the Council's Community Investment
* In addition, this post will lead on the development of a Corporate Internal Audit function
* This is a newly formed service comprising the above functional areas and this post holder will be responsible for bringing all the services areas
together to build a strong and effective corporate Governance team
* Pre-requisites of this post will include: significant / extensive experience at a senior management level within this field
* The post holder will be responsible for ensuring effective working between the executive and the elected elements of the council's leadership
and managing the Council's exposure to risk .
* Responsibilities for ensuring the Council's Constitution is fit for purpose and providing advice to ensure the Council's decision-making is sound
and compliant.
* Provision of support for the political management of the Council, including managing meetings of the Council, Cabinet, Scrutiny Boards and
Committees; training and development for Councilors' and Members' Allowances. * Electoral registration and running local and national
elections and referenda.
* Management of the Civic Office to ensure the provision of support to the Mayor, civic ceremonial and democratic decision-making processes
of the Council.
* Lead the business continuity , emergency planning and major incident response
* Proven ability to successfully lead multi-disciplinary teams at a senior level ideally including a mix of corporate services areas such as those
listed above .
* Demonstrable track-record of delivering high quality corporate services
* Experience of implementing corporate systems, policies and procedures and ensuring organisation wide compliance

This is an interim arrangement for 3-6 months pending permanent recruitment to the post
