HW Engineer (Digital)

Akton Recruitment are on the lookout for an HW Engineer (Digital) in the Cheltenham area. We are working with a world-leading provider of commercial, military and business and general aviation jet and turboprop engines and components as well as avionics, electrical power and mechanical systems for aircraft.
Job description
  • Location of work: Cheltenham
  • Target Rate: £48 per hour Ltd/co
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Start Date: ASAP
Key Skills and competencies
Key Activities:
Respin of card to accommodate obsolescent component replacements
Essential responsibilities:
  • Circuit analysis and design of mixed analogue and digital circuits based on requirements.
  • Knowledge of control and interface circuit design (e.g. sensor interfacing, ADCs, op-amps).
  • Knowledge of processor and memory device interfacing (e.g. DSP, Volatile / non-volatile memory, digital data busses)
  • Working experience of the key elements of analogue circuit design: op-amps, BJTs, FETs, filter design.
  • Appreciation of design for EMC techniques to accommodate EMI and Lightning protection.
  • Experience in requirements capture and management through Engineering Development lifecycle
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of PCB technologies and manufacturing
  • Experience of Dfx (Design for Test, Manufacture, Reliability) best practice
  • Ability to author documentation (e.g. plans, requirements, design descriptions, test procedures etc).
  • Experience integrating and verifying electronic modules and products.
  • Must be able to work according to company and industry standards and design processes.

Desirable experience / skills:
  • Design for environment (e.g. Vibration, temperature)
  • Design process assurance (e.g. DO-254)
  • Aerospace or similar safety critical design experience (e.g. automotive, medical).
  • AND/OR Industrial application experience such as marine or nuclear
Desirable tools experience:
  • Schematic Capture (e.g. Mentor Graphics)
  • Circuit modelling and simulation (e.g. SIMetrix, Spice)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Requirements management (e.g. DOORS)
