Your Team
The Housing Options Team deliver an effective advisory and assistance service as part of a comprehensive approach to Housing Options. The team provide core statutory services required by the Housing legislation covering homelessness. Specialising in assessment, investigation, and decision making, ensuring services provided meet legal requirements and best practice guidance. Team's main function is to reduce homelessness and rough sleeping in Central Bedfordshire.
Your Customers
* Staff within the Council
* Elected Members
* External customers including those to whom we provide a statutory service
* Service supplier network
* Parish Councils and other representative community groups
* Stakeholders and partners, including voluntary agencies
* Housing Associations, Private landlords and all other housing providers
Your Role
* Deliver effective advisory & assistance service as part of a comprehensive approach to Housing Options that meets statutory requirements.
* Negotiate with landlords and other agencies or relevant parties (e.g. family and friends) to ensure that accommodation does not cease to be available to an applicant whenever possible.
* Mediate to resolve potentially homeless cases, irrespective of tenure (excluding fear of violence).
* Manage a caseload, and make decisions in regards to homelessness which include judgements related to duties owed by the local authority and determining the best course of action in emergency situations, which impact upon the health and safety of people in the community.
* *Assist the Head of Service in maintaining a strategic view of service provision, identifying priorities and developing work programmes.
* **Apply your experience to lead a team, to deliver an efficient service that effectively manages housing demand.
* ***Undertake complex case work and advise Housing Option Officers on complex cases.
* ****Be first point of contact for our customers relevant to the services provided.
* **** Ensure robust document collection and management for Officer investigation and inquiries
* Participation in the running of an enhanced 'Out of Hours' homeless provision on a rota basis.
