My client is a leading multi-discipline engineering consultancy, specialising in the civil, structural, building services and geoenvironmental fields. It has offices all throughout the UK.
We are looking to add a Graduate Structural Engineer with typically 2/3 years experience to join our Cheshire team to work on a wide variety of challenging projects. They are currently involved in a large number of projects ranging from small scale refurbishment through to multi-million pound developments and the role will include involvement on the full range of projects in the office.
The role will consist of the preparation of design calculations and drawings under the supervision of a Senior Engineer. A sound knowledge of Masonry, Concrete, Steel, Timber, together with some experience in external works and drainage, and their design will be an essential prerequisite. Similarly, knowledge of UK and Euro design codes is expected.
Experience in the production of drawings will be essential for this position. The majority of the work will involve the use of both 3D (Revit, Civils 3D) and 2D (Autocad) platforms. A good working knowledge of either or both of these tools or similar packages will be essential for the role. They will provide training to help supplement any existing skills.
It is anticipated the role will involve liaising with clients and other construction professionals throughout the design and construction process and excellent communication skills coupled with a personable and professional disposition will be expected.
As part of the day to day duties, it will be necessary to work closely with the rest of the team. The ability to direct and supervise Technicians will be beneficial, as will grounding in the commercial aspects of projects.
It is expected that candidates will be registered as Graduate Members of the Institution of Civil or Structural Engineers.
- Involved in project design from inception to completion.
- Preparing design calculations and drawings.
- Communicating with Technicians and other members of the team.
- Supporting Senior Engineers in carrying out the project design.
- Carrying out Professional Development and maintaining records in accordance with ICE or IStructE requirements in order to progress to Chartered status.
- Ability to show initiative and drive and to manage time effectively.
On offfer to to the successful candidate is c£25,000-£30,000 and Package and the position will offer significant opportunity for continued professional development in a multidisciplinary environment. Full mentoring and training will be provided in order to progress the candidate towards Chartered status at the earliest opportunity. They have an enviable client list and are a top 50 employer.
