Our client is a forward thinking, award winning, innovative business that is a market leader in the design and manufacture of energy management solutions. Our client exports to 17 countries and has operations in UK, Europe USA and Australia. Our client is now looking for a Software Engineer to work in a small team environment developing the software and features of our existing and new products. The candidate must have a good understanding of power electronics and software languages.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

* Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems (Microchip) for Energy Systems, especially for transformers and inverters from requirements to production and commercial deployment
* Design, develop, code, test and debug system software
* Review code and design
* Integrate and validate new product designs as well asd hardware design and development
* Support software QA and optimize I/O performance
* Provide post production support
* Assess third party and open source software
* To be trained and then work on the third party controller (ComAp Controller) for Energy Systems, especially for inverters.

Requirements

* Proven working experience in software engineering
* BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering
* Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
* Solid programming experience in C or C++
* Proven experience in embedded systems design with pre-emptive, multitasking real-time operating systems
* Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
* Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces and hardware subsystems
* Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
* Strong documentation and writing skills
