COVID Outbreaks - Senior Public Health Practitioner- Lancashire

This role will be required for an initial period of six months.

This role will require health protection experience - not just public health experience .

- This requires dealing with outbreak situations
- The worker will need to be flexible over the 7 day working & also areas of activity i.e. outbreak management; case and contact tracing; supporting district public health activity - including potentially deployment 'in the field' to support public health / environmental health
- People may have environmental health experience or health protection experience … both are relevant

This role will involve support to the Head of Service and to liaise with businesses about COVID outbreaks, health protection, outbreak management, community/household issues and work with Districts.

Purpose The overarching purpose of this role is to manage, co-ordinate and facilitate the development and delivery of public health support into the sustainable travel agenda, in particular influencing the delivery of schemes and promoting their utilisation. On the issue of sustainable travel, take an operational lead for the County Councils responsibilities around sustainable travel for public health; managing and developing relationships and partnerships within the Council and with other agencies, organisations and the wider communities across Lancashire.

Key to the role is the ability to forge strong working relationships with colleagues across the system to enable work to be planned, agreed and progressed, therefore strong project management skills are necessary.

Scope of work
The scope of work is ideally suited to an experienced Public Health Practitioner/Manager and/or professional from a relevant service area to work within our Public Health and Well Being Team. It primarily involves taking a lead role around the development, implementation, and monitoring of a range of sustainable travel programmes, projects and initiatives as appropriate. This is to consider the evidence of effectiveness for initiatives, the measurement of impact, and ultimately the facilitation of behaviour change for our residents and visitors. An essential part of the role is to work with colleagues from across the Council including highways, planning, education, community safety, green spaces; as well as important partners from across the system including district councils, NHS, voluntary sector, and businesses; to create opportunities for change, and increase and promote the utilisation of sustainable methods of travel. You will be reporting to an experienced Public Health Specialist for strategic support and will be part of a small team that have responsibilities for health improvement of families.

It will be important to work with other Public Health colleagues to support their policy development and physical activity portfolios; and link the work to wider thematic opportunities and/or projects. The post holder will provide technical expertise and advise on sustainable transport; walking cycling, reduction in carbon use, which will include preparing proposals for schemes, assessing feasibility of delivery, preparing papers, modelling, inputting to the local plan and transport planning.

These roles are currently home working however there may be an expectancy to attend the office, therefore Lancashire based would be required
