This role requires shift working: -

The shift patterns for the CSO's are 37 hours a week 5 days from 7 including evenings/weekends.

Typical shift patterns will be 10:00 - 18:00, 12:00 - 20:00, and occasionally 14:00 - 22:00

Role Purpose

Supporting the Council and its partners on the management and prevention of local outbreaks, by advising members of the public on social distancing and other covid secure measures in public areas.

The main purpose of the role is to provide advice and guidance in a friendly non-confrontational way and to report issues to the Police and the Food and Safety Team.

Main Responsibilities

* Working in pairs to patrol the city in branded Derby City Council Uniform.
* Working a variety of shift patterns between 08:00 and 22:00 including evening and weekend working to meet the demands of the service.
* Explain coronavirus restrictions to members of the public and business owners.
* To visit members of the public at their homes to inform them that someone from test and trace is trying to contact them.
* Provide advice on government guidance mainly social distancing, face coverings.
* Monitor numbers in premises and queues.
* Take notes of incidents or issues so these can be effectively referred to the appropriate team or police.
* Notify the police or Public Protection Officer's where escalation required.
* Report non-compliance to Environmental Health Food and Safety Team.
* Work collaboratively with other council officers and teams.
* Sign posting to other services - NHS Test & Trace / Community Support Hubs.
* Policy and guidance is continually changing.
