Configuration & Archive Manager- Met Office

The Configuration Manager is required too:
* Design, develop and maintain the Configuration Management (CM) approach for the SEP,
* Manage the day-to-day change control around SEP configuration items, and
* Assist SEP with tooling (related to Configuration Items (CIs)) and wider enterprise-wide CM practices

Job Responsibilities -

1. CM Planning & Design - Working with BArch / EAs and delivery managers to identify the correct level of CM for SEP, the impacted stakeholders, how current and future CI are to be identified and formally added to the CM system, the relevant CM procedures and practices, the resulting product flows, and specific standards to be followed when developing products (to be articulated / managed in a "SEP CM Framework & Standards document").
2. CM Identification - Specifying and identifying all CI items, developing and maintaining SEP product descriptions, and developing the requisite coding systems to track and relate associated SEP artefacts). This needs to include - but not limited to:
* EA Artifacts currently across three EA tools (Signavio / LucidChart / SharePoint) e.g. VSMs, Capability Maps, Transition States, POTID models, EA Catalogue (inc re-factoring)
* P3M Artifacts (SharePoint and ServiceNow ITBM) e.g. Gaps, Roadmaps, Product Descriptions, Plans, RAID, Reporting, Change Control
* RE Artifacts (JIRA) e.g. EPICS, User Stories
3. CM Control - Developing and deploying the relevant control mechanisms to approve, baseline, and change CIs, in-line with formal P3M governance processes. Includes defining access management, distribution, and archiving procedures, and the subsequent management thereof. A "CI Record" or similar mechanism should be developed to record and track the status of CIs. Management of the meta-model and data dissemination related to CIs.
4. Status Accounting - Develop and produce regular reports of the historic, current, and future development status of priority CIs in scope of the CM system (articulated in a "Product Status Report" or similar mechanisms, derived from the "CI Records")
5. Verification & Audit - Develop manage and deliver the appropriate auditing and review process to ensure actual CIs conform to their CI Record
Additional Responsibilities Include:
6. Infrastructure Development - Designing, developing / configuring the relevant data / artefact repositories
7. CM Support - assisting CM users with the CM system, access and other data retrieval / storage issues
8. CM Practices - assisting the establishment of CM practices (EA, RE and P3M) across the Met Office through best practice development on the SEP
9. Tooling Requirements - developing CM storage solutions in-line with evolving corporate / enterprise wide initiatives e.g. EA tooling, P3M tooling (ServiceNow ITBM) and RE (JIRA advanced roadmaps)


Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

Essential Criteria

1. Highly organized, with a proven ability to manage and deliver tasks with competing workloads and sometimes to very short deadlines, on time and in full.

2. Excellent conceptual, analytical, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all organizational levels.

3. Strong interpersonal and team-working skills, an ability to lead discussions and present ideas/concepts/demos to an audience

4. Experience with industry standard EA, P3M and RE tooling

5. Experience in building process workflows and model development

Desirable Criteria

1. Experience of using Advanced Road Maps for JIRA
2. Experience of using ServiceNow IT Business Management (ITBM)
3. Experience of using Signavio software suite
4. Experience of using LucidChart software
