Community Economic Development Officer

Covid 19 specific - High Street and Neighbourhood Support

The role of the officer will be to:

Engage with individual businesses who are trading to:

  • understand the impact of Covid-19 on their business
  • identify any assistance required to trade safely
  • support them in operating within Government guidance
  • assist with relevant risk assessments
  • identify and signpost to appropriate support
  • signpost to funding opportunities, as appropriate, to secure relevant equipment and signage

Engage with individual businesses who have not yet reopened to:

  • understand the impact of Covid-19 on their business
  • understand the barriers preventing them from opening
  • work with the business to devise and agree a plan of action to support reopening
  • assist with relevant risk assessments
  • identify and signpost to appropriate support
  • signpost to funding opportunities, as appropriate, to secure relevant equipment and signage

Engage with all businesses to:

  • reiterate the importance of working within Government guidance
  • ensure they have access to all up to date guidance
  • ensure they understand their customer base and how to reach them
  • identify barriers to new ways of trading to meet customer expectations
  • consider digital ways of working, and assess if further support is required
  • link them with existing support and training
  • signpost to funding opportunities, as appropriate to support new ways of trading

High Streets:

  • to be observant of how our High Streets are functioning in line with Covid-19 guidance
  • to engage with DCC and external services to ensure our High Streets remain safe
