Civil Litigation / Prosecutions Lawyer- Camden
£27/h

We're currently looking for a qualified legal expert to play a lead role in the Council's contentious legal matters, including prosecutions in the Criminal Courts and general litigation in the Civil Courts. You'll be a key point of reference within the organisation on Civil Litigation and Prosecution matters. Your role will involve the providing of specialist, technical advice and managing a caseload including advocacy on your cases in the County Court and Magistrates' Court. In complex investigations, you'll undertake the necessary research and make recommendations to investigations officers on evidence gathering which promote best practice, complying with the relevant legislation and the council's own legal obligations, and ensuring the most effective use of officer time.
This is an interesting, varied and, at times, challenging role. You'll need to be flexible and have experience of managing and prioritising conflicting business needs.
About you
To be successful, you'll be a qualified legal professional with significant experience and detailed knowledge of UK laws related to regulatory enforcement, Civil Procedure Rules and Criminal Procedure Rules. Strong advocacy skills are an essential requirement for this role, in both the Criminal and County Courts to represent the Council. As a strong communicator, you'll use your excellent interpersonal, communication and research skills (written and oral) including literacy, tact and diplomacy, to explain complex legal issues in a clear and comprehensive manner. Good knowledge of information systems is also important allowing you to collate, manipulate, analyse and present data. You'll have excellent organisational skills required to manage a complex and varied workload with a flexible and innovative approach to work. You'll also have the ability to work on your own initiative and with minimal supervision and be able to make accurate, considered judgements and decisions
