We're looking for a suitable Children Rights Officer To be responsible for organising, promoting and delivering advocacy and return home interviews for children and young people looked after, subject to CP Plan and others as necessary.

Key responsibilities:
1. To provide a telephone response to enquiries and requests for advocacy support and return home interviews.

2. To provide a response to requests for advocacy and return home interviews within service time limits.

3. To attend support advocacy clients at meetings and forums such as assessments, reviews, child protection conference, complaints meetings, meetings with external service providers.

4. To ensure that people using the service are able to assert their rights are supported to self-advocate whenever possible and provide representation where this is not possible.

5. To effectively foster positive perceptions of young people in the borough and ensure children and young people's voice is promoted in decision making.

Knowledge and Qualifications:
* Qualified to a degree level
* Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Knowledge and understanding of legislation around looked after children, care leavers, child in need of help or protection, advocacy and missing from home or care.
* Must be able to demonstrate expert knowledge and understanding of advocacy and its importance in delivering services to children and young people.
* Must be able to demonstrate expert knowledge in issues around children and young people missing from home and care.
* Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
