Assistant Director of Customer & Localities
 
Akton Recruitment currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director/Assistant Director to join a Local Authority team in the South East
 
Summary of Role
 
To share leadership of the organisation to set strategic direction and deliver its outcomes.
 
To be responsible for the effective leadership of responsive customer and localities services, ensuring the needs of customers are met through the efficient deployment of resources and a drive for continuous improvement.
 
We are looking for someone to help move our vision for Localities forward within the context of managing demand on key Council services.  
 
Working closely with colleagues in Adult and Children’s Services, and Public Health as well as external partners you will be designing and participating in the implementation of new community-focused services, with a strong focus finding the best outcomes for people at a local level.
 
With your leadership expertise you’ll have a firm operational grip. You’ll ensure robust performance management and the delivery of integrated, value for money services, providing mentoring and coaching to your management team.
 
Service Delivery Accountabilities
 
 Leading the delivery of services to clear performance targets, creating an environment of continuous improvement and innovation to meet the needs of customers and residents.
 Promoting new ways of accessing Council services promoting self-serve where appropriate and ensuring resolution at first point of contact. 
 Leading effective and efficient case ownership focused on earlier resolution of customer and resident issues and operating to clear rules and programmes
 Leading locality based and locality facing customer services and case ownership through multi skilled teams with authority to act to resolve local issues.
 Ensuring compliance with Borough policies and guidance, while discharging all the Council’s statutory and regulatory responsibilities
 
Management Accountabilities
 
 Functionally manage team and operationally manage line reports, set delivery targets and provide direction to enable the council to operate effectively. 
 Provide expertise and guidance as required; support and coach the team. 
 Implement effective monitoring, performance management and review mechanisms to ensure continuous improvement in delivery of services, and to direct team development.
 Provide strategic direction on development of good practice policies and procedures
 Network with leaders across different authorities, to share ideas and good practice.
