Architectural Designer
Ipswich
£30,000-£32,000

The Job
To manage and assist on all aspects of Architectural Design to the required standards, ranging To contribute to all aspects of architectural design, ranging from presentations for clients to working with the construction team.

Team worker:

Participate as a member of our clients team supporting colleagues and working collaboratively to develop the business
Work flexibly to support delivery across the service

Business delivery:

Ensure projects are completed on budget and to schedule
Prepare and present feasibility reports, mood boards and high-quality design proposals to the client
Work around constraining factors such as planning legislation, building regulations, environmental impact and project budget
Prepare applications for planning and building control
Prepare working drawings, details and specifications for pricing and construction issue
Choose materials to be used and the requirements for the project, based on site and environmental criteria
React to and resolve issues which arise during the design and construction stages of a project
Contract Administration
Lead and co-ordinate the project design team at all stages of projects

BIM roles and responsibilities:

Maintain and receive information into the information model
Configure information for project outputs
Populate the information exchange format for the information model.
Production of design outputs related to a discipline specific, package-based or time-based task.
Undertake clash detection process and report to design team lead
Produce BIM compliant working drawings and specifications
Coordinated delivery of all design information
Assure delivery of information exchanges
Ensuring Asset Information requirements and/or MIDP requirements set out in the Employers Information Requirements are delivered on a BIM project.
Enable reliable information exchange through a common data environment
Enable integration and co-ordination of information within information model.
Confirm supplier's ability to deliver information requirements
Manage information development and information approvals
Confirm Design Deliverables
Direct the production of task information in compliance with standards and methods.
Direct the production of task information using agreed systems.
Manage spatial co-ordination on behalf of task team.
Propose resolutions to co-ordination clashes
Accept / reject information exchanges within the common data Environment
Oversee team to ensure compliance of their job responsibilities
Overall lead for configuration management and project outputs

It's essential you have:

Have five+ years professional experience in an architectural role
Good design and drawing skills
A keen interest in buildings and the built environment
Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals
An understanding of the relationship between people, buildings and the wider environment
Good technical construction knowledge
A desire to work towards your chartership, CIAT or RIBA
Microsoft Office proficiency
Excellent CAD proficiency

Communicate with all staff efficiently
Knowledge of the complaints handling procedure

Customer Service:

Provide an efficient and business-like point of contact. This includes responding to internal and external enquiries and (via face-to-face, telephone, email and virtual meeting platforms e.g. Microsoft Teams)
Deliver a consistent and professional level of customer service at all times to Clients and other practices within the industry, and provide advice to various clients we service in both the private and public sectors
