Advanced Public Health Practitioner- Worcestershire
£25/h

This is an exciting opportunity to join the public health team at Worcestershire County Council. Worcestershire is a great place to live and work, we have bustling towns and a heritage city, rolling countryside, history, culture, a passion for sport. Overall health in Worcestershire is good, but the challenges of health inequalities, service delivery, and improving health outcomes have never been greater, along with the current challenge of responding to COVID-19.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Engagement Team in Public Health at Worcestershire County Council. This team will work closely with the Consultants and Senior Practitioners in Public Health, members of the wider Public Health Team, Public Health Communications Team, colleagues across the County Council, District councils and our wider communities. More broadly, your work will include working across the Worcestershire health system with NHS bodies, District Council colleagues, Voluntary and Community Sector organisations and communities. Your work will advocate and improve population health, focusing on the wider determinants of health having an impact on health and wellbeing in its broadest sense.

The purpose of this team is to improve our understanding of the needs of our communities and whether these have changed since the pandemic. This team will develop a suite of community intelligence, tailor resources to better suit our different communities. It will develop a Public Health engagement strategy and will coordinate and manage delivery of engagement plans.

You will work with communities and partner organisations, contributing to the work of the wider public health agenda in Worcestershire and the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. Although a generic post, we are seeking a candidate with specific interests and experience of community engagement, working with communities using asset-based approaches and analysing and interpreting complex data for a range of community based audience.

You will be able to demonstrate a track record of working in partnership across organisations to make changes, find solutions and make a difference for local populations. As well as indicating your ability to develop and implement strategy and policy to improve health and wellbeing. You will be expected to use a community centred and asset-based approach to coordinate the development and implementation of local plans, programmes, projects and service improvement initiatives.

The Advanced Public Health Practitioner will lead the engagement team, ensuring the team works in partnership within existing structures, including links to WCC and Public Health communications functions. The successful candidate will be expected to lead and co-ordinate the evaluation of the project and to ensure its findings are shared with partners and stakeholders as required. You will be expected to use a community centred and asset-based approach to coordinate the development and implementation of local plans, programmes, projects and service improvement initiatives. You will lead the team in capturing community intelligence and tailoring information to specific audiences/communities
