AKTON Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for a Business Support Officer in the Southwark area.

Purpose of the Job
Provides customer focussed Parks and Leisure services through ensuring the effective delivery of the Arboricultural Contract, divisional performance reporting, effective budget monitoring and responsible for stakeholder management through customer enquiries and complaints. Takes responsibility for coordinating business activities and establishing systems, on behalf of the division and senior management, to help the team work better and smarter to ensure high quality customer service is delivered in accordance with the Council's policies.

Main Accountabilities

1. Acts as a first point of contact for all enquiries including those from Members of Parliament, Councillors and stakeholders coming into the Division including ICW and FOIs. Developing effective links and working relationships in order to respond. Responsible for ensuring that these are responded to within the corporate timescales. Reporting to the division on performance against correspondence targets.
2. Contributing to the successful delivery of the Arboricultural Services Contract including ensuring effective contract management through the issuing of works and ensuring the contract is meeting specified schedules.
3. Leads in the rollout of new procedures relating to the Council's business systems, with a particular emphasis on exploiting benefits of IT, providing guidance to senior managers.
4. Responsible for the preparation, presentation of information as and when required including the provision of technical and non-technical reports.
5. Contribute to the management and monitoring of budgets and responsible for processing of payments to contractors.

Knowledge
1. Knowledge and understanding of the importance of parks and trees an inner city environment

Experience
2. Setting up and maintaining administrative systems and complex records

3. Liaison with internal and external individuals and organisations on administrative issues

4. Using a range of IT packages including word and excel and other packages for presenting information to a high standard
